Welch, the British Welterweight Champion has announced that he will be fight Tait, the number 1 challenger on Nov 24th. His facebook post said “I’m pleased to confirm that both Tait and myself have agreed terms, and signed the contract. We will square of on November 24th. Location has yet to be confirmed but hopefully York Hall. I have been in training for 3 weeks and feel good”.
At 28 years old, Welch carries a string of early knock outs against big names. His power is phenomenal at Welterweight, but he has struggled to make weight. I suspect he will step up a division if he gets the win.
At 25 years old, Tait has had an incredible rise and has seemed like a wildfire, blazing his way to the top. When focused, Tait is a true force.
People have been wanting to see this fight for a few years now. Both are easily the biggest punchers amongst the Welterweights. Their talent, combined with the names on their record make this a rare, dream fight. I cannot see this being anything short of epic and see no outcome than a stoppage.
Welch has seemed so dominant since winning the title two years ago. I feel that Tait, if he trains hard and doesn’t let the occasion get to him, gets the win.
