Canelo vs Golovkin ends in controversy

The fight should have been good for boxing. A fight that was demanded by the fans and they didn’t have to wait six years for it. Both men seemed at the top of their game. What could go wrong?

The fight wasn’t a disappointment. Bot men fought well. Golovkin gave fans a display of pure aggression. Canelo Showed excellent defence. Both men avoided a knockdown, both men had their chins tested and both men made it safely to the end.

So what was wrong? two things. The result and the judging. One judge gave it to Canelo by a ridiculously large margin, one gave it to Golovkin and the other made it a draw. The end result, draw.

I personally had the result close and I wanted Canelo to win, but he didn’t. His work was brilliant but the work rate was to low. Their are no definitive guides for judging fights. Judges look out for different things. This explains the wide scorecards we see in fights at times. I feel that the time has come for exact guidelines. Fans are left disheartened by ridiculous results. Its not fair on the fans or the fighters.
