Veteran Referee, Joe Gleer 79, has lost his battle with cancer. We have been informed that he passed away at 2.48pm on Thursday. He was surrounded by his family, including a wife and 5 children.
Joe was a regular ref for the EBU, BBN, UKBA and NBO. He was much loved by our supporters and he fair but firm approach will be sadly missed.
A message from his Wife Barbara read.
“Joe was a loving Husband and a fantastic Father. We always knew we would be stuck with his main passion… Boxing. Joe couldn’t get enough of it. Every Christmas or party he would bombard people with his extensive knowledge of the fight game. He would be honoured to have seen the messages sent by some of the great Champions that he admired so much. Your love for Joe is incredible but I ask, with the greatest affection, please give us time and space to grieve. The time will come when we can honour such a great man”.
