DelBrey and Havey are the best of the best. They are both willing to put their careers on the line and face each other toe to toe. Sounds simple. After all, that’s what boxing is all about. Well it used to be. These days politics often prevents top boxers from facing each other. Top boxers draw a lot of money. If one loses, their stock falls. In the eyes of boxing’s organisations, its bad business to pit the best against the best.
The EBU has always prided itself on delivering the fights people wanted. You demanded DelBrey vs Havey II and we made it happen. You demanded Delbrey vs Havey III and we delivered it. For us, Its good for business. Yes one will lose, one will no longer be as big a draw. But their purse will also fall. As things currently stand, they are the two most dominant boxers and the two highest paid.
Why was a 3rd fight needed? After two fights we still didn’t know who was better. The first fight was lacking in action, but it was under strange circumstances. The second fight was action packed and won fight of the year. Havey seemed to get the better of the EBUs long time ruler, but he sacrificed rounds. Both fights ended in a draw.
DelBrey is simply incredible. He has been top of the lot for 11 years. By far the most dominant fighter in EBU history. Not only has he never lost a fight, he had never lost a round until his first draw with Havey. Using his height to maximum impact, DelBrey beats people from the outside. No one has had a greater career then DelBrey, and no one ever will. He is the EBU British Heavyweight Champion. DelBrey hides away in a woodland retreat for his training camps, concentrating on only the task at hand. He controls the range during fights which often controls the pace.
Since coming back 4 years ago from a self imposed exile, Havey has been a wild fire, blazing his way through Champions. He is a counter punching, knockout artist with a granite chin. Havey is most likely the fasting punching heavyweight the EBU has ever seen. The crowds love him and he can fill arenas with paying punters, so the EBU love him. The reigning English champion is a master of psychologically beating his opponents and is himself mentally unbreakable.
Comparing the two.
POWER. Both carry crazy amounts of power into their fights and both have high KO ratios. Their common opponents say that whilst Haveys punches hurt more, DelBrey more power.
CAREER. Every young boxer out their is dreaming of achieving what these two have in boxing. Havey has avenged every loss he has ever had, which is incredible. DelBrey has never lost, which is even more incredible. No one has had a better career than DelBrey.
FOOTWORK. Havey has very good footwork. DelBrey’s is so much better.
EXPERIENCE. Both have a lot of experience. Havey was winning the last fight but DelBrey proved he was more experienced and clawed his way back into the fight in the last minute.
CONSISTANCY. I can only give this to DelBrey. Havey was very inconsistent early on in his career. Havey rises to the occasion and is a great fighter when he faces other great fighters. But DelBrey has been a great fighter against all fighters.
RANGE. With out a doubt, DelBrey will control the range for most of the fight.
HEIGHT AND WEIGHT. Havey is 5″10 weighing 219 Lbs. (15 stone 9). DelBrey towers over Havey at 6″5 weighing 256 Lbs. (18 stone 4).
TEAM. Both have brilliant teams and both place importance on top quality sparring. But Havey makes a lot of changes in his training camps. DelBrey has had the same team from for 16 years, pretty much.
SPEED. DelBrey is faster than most heavyweights but he isn’t as fast as Havey.
PUNCH RESISTANCE. Both went down in their last fight. Havey went down once but wasn’t hurt. He seemed off balance. DelBrey went down a few times and was badly hurt in the a few rounds. Havey can take a punch better than the British Champion.
PACE. DelBrey usually controls the pace and the person that controls range usually controls pace. Not against Havey. As we have seen in the two previous fights, Havey will take control of the pace.
DEFENCE. I don’t think anyone will argue with this. Havey has a much better Defense.
COURAGE. Both have shown serious heart throughout their careers. However, Havey once battled on and won a fight in which his jaw was broken in 3 places. He has always been willing to fight anyone. Havey wins in a battle of courage.
EXPLOSIVENESS. Common opponents say that Havey’s punches hurt more even though Delbrey hits harder. This is likely due to Havey’s explosiveness. With blinding speed, he explodes into his power punches. DelBrey lacks the explosive force possessed by Havey.
DelBrey 8
Havey 6.
The 1st December 2017 will answer all questions on who is the best. I personally feel that Havey won the first fight. I believe that he was at his very best and DelBrey wasn’t. But in my opinion, DelBrey will rightfully win the 3rd fight. He will have given everything in training, as I know they both have. I don’t see Havey being able to compete with DelBrey. I recently went to watch both men sparring. Both looked great and both knocked their sparring partner clean unconscious. Yet Havey was getting tagged more than I have seen before and DelBrey looked untouchable. I strongly feel that Have will suffer his first knockout from a 12 year career. I’m looking forward to the fight a respect both men for taking such a huge risk. They both believe in themselves but the losers career at the top will be over.
