The EBU board of directors has issued an end of year message.
“As we look back over the year, thoughts of improvements fill my mind. The EBU was a fantastic organisation, but one that was failing to reach its potential. We have kept the principles that built spectacular shows. 97% of our shows were only seen by a live audience and any clips removed in less that 1 hour. Exclusively live audiences are the only way we are able to top any live show from any promotion or governing body.
“Our aim was not to create a new organisation, but to improve an existing one. We made big steps in improvements in every level of the company. The one change that makes us most proud, benefits our audience and our boxers. We have been buying up boxing organisations all around Europe. Some small, some large, some successful, some almost going under. This has 3 big outcomes. 1) Happier boxers. Our boxers want big fights and they want to be competitively challenged. They want international fights. 2) Better Variety for fans. When we buy an organisation, we buy its fighters contracts. We now have 12 times more boxers than last year. 3) A new belt. This one hasn’t been achieved yet. We just need to make one more deal and we have grounds for a European title.
I must thank all of the promoters and boxers for the best year ever. So much effort has been put in and it shows. Every show has delivered fights that show we have the quality and the talent.
Mostly I would like to thank the fans. Times are hard and uncertain, yet the fans part with their hard earned cash and we hope that it has been worth every penny. A picture in our reception reads “Not ours, theirs”. This is to constantly remind us that we are running a company that is yours and we aim to deliver what you want, each and every time.
Merry Christmas and a blessed new year.
