jack Deakin, the former British Cruiserweight has today announced his retirement. The 35 year old once dominated the division with devastating ease.
Back to back defeats in 2012 signaled a dramatic end to his unbeaten run. Repeated attempts to regain his former glory left Deakin with frustrated due to further defeats.
Things seemed to be looking up for Deakin in 2015 when he knocked out Ricky Sparo to break back into the top 10 rankings.
Today he said this.
“Today is hard for me. I have had to be honest with myself over the last few months. I have spoken with me team and my family. We all agree that now is the right time. I can’t keep it up forever. I sad to say that I’m done with competitive boxing. My body cannot keep it up. Boxing is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I look forward to continuing my boxing journey. That journey will involve me be outside of the ropes. I want to thank everyone for the support I have received. I also want to thank the EBU for their belief in me. Thank you all”.
