Meers looking to add European strap.

The EBU has risen from very humble beginnings. It actually has illegal beginnings. Throughout the 80s, EBU fighters were local hardman against local hardman, gangster against gangster. These fights were certainly not sanctioned. The 90s started and all of that changed. Proper licensing was gained for the company and for its boxers.

Now look at the EBU. It stands as the shinning example of new age boxing. The EBU would rise as a true player in the noughties. Boxers like DelBrey, Hamel, Havey, Troy, Chambers, Morland and W. Joyce can claim the credit for turning the organisation into what it is today. They were all stars in there time. Three of them are still in the mix.

The current reigning star of the EBU is Meers. His sensational defeat over chambers catapulted him to dominance. Now he wants more.

“I think that I will become the European champion this year. It hasn’t been contested in my weight class yet and I want to be the first to win it”.

Meers would actually be the first Brit to win it. Havey failed in his bid in April. Britain still doesn’t have a European champ.

The EBU released this response, “Meers is certainly a contender to fight for that belt. It hasn’t been decided yet but it makes sense”.

Personally, I feel that Meers is the perfect candidate.

Jules Connerley.
