Meers considering jump to heavyweight.

Meers has been incredibly dominant at Cruiserweight. In a short amount of time he has captured gold and built a fan base that is close to rivalling the top EBU stars. At Cruiserweight he is King of the hill by a country mile.

Not happy with the number one spot, Meers has expressed interest in jumping up to compete against the big punchers in the Heavyweight division.

“Sometimes a division can go stale”, he said. “When there is no stand out opponent to challenge a champion, he must consider his options. Legacies depend on the level of opposition. We see it time and time again. Epic fights create legends. No one cares how long you held a belt. They will never remember that. The Heavyweight division has some seriously dangerous boxers. I want to fight them. I’m not saying a jump up will happen. Its what we are discussing currently”.

Realistically, Meers could do well in the heavyweight division. He is close to 6ft tall and is stocky at Cruiserweight. He always weighs in at the limit and is hits with power. We have seen that he has a good chin, but could he take a shot from the hardest hitters up there? I suspect he can. Personally I think a heavyweight jump is the best option for Meers.

No opponent has been mentioned but his team should certainly rule out anyone without a top 5 ranking.
